She uses CBT and DBT as the framework for her work as a therapist. While working with clients in the outpatient setting, Shawn discovered that the key to success was addressing the relationship with self. Guided by the work of Brene Brown, Carl Rogers and many others, she began coaching clients to make small changes in how they talked about themselves. This improved her clients’ ability to have empathy and compassion for themselves as well as others. .
